As you know, we recently increased the price of our deodorants by $1. But stick with us (pun intended!) because we promise it’s all for some amazing reasons.

We are not here to conquer the planet or become a world famous brand. Sure, seeing your name in lights seems appealing on the surface, but we’re down-to-earth people and we’re here for a pretty simple purpose.

We want to offer products that you love to use, in a way that’s fun and brings joy. Products that have a positive impact on the world around us. All while providing comfortable living conditions for Woohoo team members that help make all of this a reality and make Woohoo HQ a place we want to be!

Achieving this is no mean feat, and juggling dollars plays a big role. Especially these last 12 months – it’s been even harder than usual, but we’re confident we can keep going 🙂

What we’re getting at in a roundabout way is that we’re not looking for big profit margins on Woohoo. We choose high quality, environmentally friendly and happiness over profits. See more about how our values relate to our pricing and profitability:

We don’t skimp on packaging: We choose expensive packaging because it is more environmentally friendly and easier to recycle. Paper deodorants and lip balm tubes are much more expensive than their plastic counterparts, as are aluminum bottles and recyclable single-plastic pumps.

Quality ingredients: We choose high quality ingredients because they are good for you and we use them at the right level to deliver results. We want you to come to Woohoo because it really works and you feel great inside and out when you use our formulas. When it comes to active ingredients, we don’t overuse them just to make our products sound better, nor do we underuse them to keep costs down. We use the amount that has been proven to work. No more, no less. And quietly, our products compare very favorably with products from other brands that you might pay up to 5 times for…

Reasonable prices: We know our prices aren’t the cheapest, but we keep them as low as we can so they’re accessible to as many people as possible. In fact, our skincare products just had a price cut (yes, you read that right…prices are GOING DOWN!).

Retailers: When we sell our products through stores and distributors, we are much less profitable than if you buy directly from us, but we still want these channels to thrive as they are another way of increasing our reach and supporting other Australian businesses. No matter where you buy Woohoo, we are very grateful for your support.

Social Impact: At least 1% of every sale made on woohoobody.com.au is donated to environmental causes. Granted, I’ve had some days where I’ve felt a little anxious about parting with those dollars, but giving fills our hearts and quickly sends stress on its way.

No Glitzy Marketing: You probably won’t see Woohoo on the hands (or pits) of high-flying celebrities or in glossy magazines because we keep our marketing budgets tight. We rely on wonderful people like you to help spread the word (which is why we are so very, very grateful for your reviews).

Reinvestment, Quality and Compliance: Every dollar of profit we make goes back into Woohoo’s growth. We are currently planning a renovation at Woohoo HQ to add a second clean crafting room so we can upgrade with more creations for you to enjoy. We are also investing in a completely new Quality Assurance and Compliance framework that will ensure our products continue to maintain world-class quality and that we can continue to ship our orders internationally as cosmetic restrictions tighten worldwide.

Proudly Australian Made and Owned: This is at the core of our values and you can count on us to always keep the love local. But being Australian made and owned comes at a cost. Australian labor, insurance, components and many other things are *much* more expensive than their offshore counterparts.

Our team: It takes many hands to bring the magic of Woohoo to life. While some companies hire offshore, we keep it in-house and provide local jobs in Newcastle, NSW. Some of our Woohoo Crew have been with us for 7+ years and still going strong! Our impressive in-house team is responsible for manufacturing our products, picking and packing orders and providing 6 Star customer service. We make sure our team at Woohoo are paid above their award wages and sprinkle in lots of little perks throughout the year to thank them for their mammoth efforts 🙂

Where are your Woohoo dollars going?

We hope this little insight into the factors that affect our pricing has helped you learn more about who we are and how our values play a role in shaping Woohoo.

As always, we can’t sign off without letting you know that we couldn’t do any of this without you, so THANK YOU so much for being on the Woohoo team. 💜💚

Phoebe, Aaron and the Woohoo team
