How environmental toxins cause inflammation

Written by Roxane Shymkiw

In our modern world, we are exposed to toxins constantly in our daily environment. Over time, they can accumulate on the body and have a profound impact on our health. Exposure to these toxins is one of the key factors that contribute to chronic inflammation in the body. Although inflammation is a natural response to the body to injury and infection as a way of treating damaged tissue and fight the pathogens, when the body does not disable inflammatory response, this chronic inflammation can lead to long -term health problems and health problems. Symptoms of chronic inflammation can be as thin as fatigue, bloating, skin diseases such as eczema, joint pain and brain fog.

What are environmental toxins?

Environmental toxins are substances that are regularly exposed to the food, water and air we breathe. These toxins are also found in conventional household cleaning products, personal care items and materials used to build and provide our homes and workplaces.

Some common environmental toxins include:

  • Pesticides and herbicides

  • Chlorine in our water

  • Endocrine disorders (BPAS, phthalates and parabens)

  • Chemical cleaning products

  • Toxic mold in wet environments

  • Heavy metals (mercury, lead, cadmium)

How do these toxins cause inflammation?

  1. Environmental toxins activate the immune system and activate a inflammatory response. Continuous exposure can lead to over -stimulation of the immune system and lead to chronic inflammation. These toxins can also increase the production of free radicals in the body by destroying cells and tissues, which cause inflammation as the body tries to repair itself.

  2. Environmental toxins can disturb the balance between good and bad bacteria in the gutleading to overgrowth of harmful bacteria and damage to the bowel lining, making it more permeable to toxins to enter the bloodstream. The body responds with an inflammatory response to these foreign particles.

  3. Endocrine disorders such as BPA and phthalates can interfere with Normal operation of our hormones by obstructing or imitating the actions of our hormones. This hormone imbalance is associated with chronic inflammation and a fertility factor and reproductive issues, thyroid dysfunction, metabolism problems and autoimmune conditions.

  4. If the body cannot keep up with the removal of these toxins through the liver, kidneys, skin and lungs, it will be created in our systems and The body can be overloadedactivating inflammation.

How can we reduce our exposure to toxins and reduce inflammation?

  1. Eat purely whole food: Whenever possible, select organic and non-food food. Check EWG’s Clean 15 and Dirty Dozen lists to see which conventional products have the highest levels of pesticides. Wash your products well and eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, as their antioxidant properties help fight inflammation.

  2. Support of bowel health: A healthy intestine is essential for reducing chronic inflammation. Eat a lot of prebiotic and probiotic foods to enhance and support the integrity of the bowel wall. Avoid or minimize high -treatment foods as they contribute to the development of harmful bacteria.

  3. Detoxification of course: Stay hydrated, eat fiber -rich food and support the liver with crusaders to help eliminate toxins. Dry brushing and exercise also improve detoxification by promoting circulation and lymphatic drainage.

  4. Go to non -toxic products: Check the EFW guide for healthy cleaning and Deep Skin database to find the cleanest products. Replace conventional household cleaning solutions, personal care products, such as makeup and lotion and plastic containers with more natural choices and glass.

  5. Reduce exposure to air pollution: If you live in an area with high levels of air pollution, consider using HEPA air cleaner at home. Open windows for fresh air to remove any domestic launch from objects such as carpet, furniture or layers and use plants to clean the air in your home.

  6. Anxiety management: Stress can lead and aggravate chronic inflammation. Integrate stress reduction activities such as yoga, deep breathing or meditation to help reduce inflammation.
