Perfect White Buns

This old -fashioned bread recipe (with Vegan variant) is completely stupid and versatile: you can make your own bread, cookies, hot dog buns, hamburger buns or even cinnamon buns from it!

I am a big fan of whole grain bread. Honestly, most nuts, seeds and fibers you can fill in a bread so much the best of me. But there is something so nostalgic (and decadent) for fluffy white buns from the oven (yes, butter, I said).

I grew up in northern Alberta for the first part of my life, where my mom stayed home and did everything from scratch. I guess it threw me! For special cases we will always have homemade white buns like these.

As I developed a passion for baking I began to clean the books of our family’s family (literally, I will dig the kitchens of my family members when we visited to find out which recipe they used) and eventually stumbled upon this jewelry from my century. Now that the lady can cook! Needless to say, I stopped taking care to find this recipe, it’s a winner every time.

Bread Tips

You can make simple buns or a bread bread (or cinnamon raisin bread?), Cinnamon Bread etc. I know this is not the whole grain bread for the health I eat normally and suggest, but it is what we call “sometimes food” in our home!

To make these vegan just replace honey for sugar, skip the eggs and use the Vegan butter! You can easily replace half or all the flour of all uses for wholemeal flour to make them healthier.

There are two things I recommend to get a perfect dough. First, make sure you only use lukewarm water (just warmer than water at room temperature) otherwise you will kill your dough and not increase. And this is a bummer.

Second, do not add too much flour. When you knead in your flour, you want to get the dough so you don’t get stuck in your hands, but be soft and flexible, a kind of baby’s thorn when you press it … soft and squishy!

What is the best yeast to use for bread?

I use active dry dough – whether traditional or rapid rise will work (traditional will last longer). You can use instant dough, but note that you will need 25% less than the dough and you will not need to activate the dough (simply mix with flour, but other ingredients such as water remain the same). I usually use the red star dough from the costco (active dry).

How to make a bread of bread

This recipe will make 2-3 bread bread, depending on the size of your pan. To make a bread of bread simply to make the bread dough in the recipe below, divide the dough into 2-3 balls and, with slightly floured hands, pour the dough in the shape of bread, placing the ends down. You can alternate it to a small rectangle (as much as your pan) and roll it. Place the breads in slightly greasy pans of bread, cover with a clean dishonest towel and allow to rise until doubled before baking for 20-30 minutes, until golden brown (the bottom should be heard hollow when beaten. Remove from the pans immediately after the pans.

How to make hamburger buns

To make hamburger buns, simply make the recipe below, and with slightly floured hands, form the cookies and place 1/2 “out of the other in the pan. Before uploading the cookies with your hand and let them get up before baking.

How to make cookies

To make cookies, with slightly floured hands, simply roll a dough dough shape in a hotdog shape (you can do this on the bench with the floured hands), place it on a 1/2 “greasy baking sheet and allow to rise until doubled.

How to make cinnamon cookies

You can use this recipe to make your own cinnamon cookies just like Granny’s! Simply grow the dough as soon as you beat (you can use a full batch or if you want to make a half batch that works) in a large square or rectangle and drowning with butter, brown sugar and sprinkle cinnamon. Pull the dough, cut it into 2 “pieces and place them down into a fat baking dish. Cover and climb until doubled, 1-2 hours. Bake at 350f to gold coffee and brown brown bubbles, about 25 minutes. Reversed the pan in

PS If you want to make cinnamon bread instead, unfold about 2 cups of dough in a longer strip, about 1 ‘x 2’. Spread 2 tablespoons. The butter on the bread and sprinkle with about 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon. Cinnamon and 1/3 cup of raisins. Pull the lengths of the dough completely to make a “bread”. Place cylindrical cinnamon-raisin bread on a greasy bread, cover, let it get up until doubled and bake at 350 f to golden coffee. Remove from the pan as soon as it comes out of the oven, cool and slice!

Perfect white buns

This perfect recipe for an unmistakable bun will make you look like a rockstar baking! You can use it to make bread, cookies or cinnamon buns!

Ingredients

Step 1

  • 1 1/2
    cups
    boiling water
  • 2
    tablespoons
    honey
    (or sugar)
  • 2
    tablespoons
    butter
    (or butter)
  • 2
    teaspoon
    salt

Step 2: Turn on the dough

  • 1 1/2
    cups
    lukewarm water
  • 1
    tablespoon
    sugar
  • 2
    tablespoons
    Active dry dough
    (traditional or rapid rise)

Step 3: Make dough

  • 2
    Eggs, well beaten
    (optional)
  • 6-7
    cups
    Generally flour
    (or 1/2 wholemeal flour)

Instructions

Step 1:

  1. In a large bowl add the butter, honey and salt and pour the boiling water over the ingredients. Stir and let it sit so that the butter melts and the salt dissolves. Allow this to cool to room temperature. You want to make sure this is not too hot, as otherwise it will kill your yeast.

Step 2: Turn on the dough

  1. While the above mixture is cooled, activate the dough. Mix lukewarm water and sugar together in a medium bowl to dissolve and sprinkle in the dough. Stir gently to combine and let it sit for about 10 minutes, until the yeast is sparkling and “activated”.

Step 3: Make the dough

  1. Add 1 cup flour to the cool butter mixture to step 1 and mix to combine. Add the eggs to this mixture and mix to combine, if you use (often omit, the dough is large without them). Add the dough mixture from step 2 to this bowl and mix to combine again.

  2. Gradually add the remaining flour, cup with a cup, until it is very difficult to mix the dough in the bowl. At this point, transfer the dough to a clean floured surface (your bench) and knead by hand until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes, adding more flour as you knead to get a soft but not sticky dough. Should feel Squishy like a baby’s brother when it’s over!

  3. Transfer the dough to a large tire of bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and place in a warm sinking area to climb until it is doubled, about an hour.

Step 4: Bake cookies or bread

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 f and lubricate a 9 × 13 baking sheet or 3 bread pans. You can alternatively use any frying shape you want – I used round like the one depicted above and works well. Cut the pieces of dough that are about 1/2 cup in size (not needed to be expensive!) And formed in buns. I keep my fingers slightly floured and squeeze the dough under stretching the dough to make it smoothly on top, but you can use any technique you like! You can make hamburger buns with the cookies more distance and level them before baking or hot dogs, forming them into mini loaf or logs (using the same amount of dough).

  2. Place the buns about 1/2 inches in the fat pan, cover with a clean towel and allow to get up until doubled.

  3. Bake for about 20 minutes or until coffee and removes from the pan as soon as you bake to cool on a cooling grill (if you do not have a shelf, just throw the pan upside down and allow them to cool in this way). They freeze them well as soon as they get cold.
