Creating your professional toolbox
By Ronel Velásquez
I understand – you decided to change your career, or maybe you have made the decision that fitness training is what you really want to devote to yourself. After all, this industry is clearly rising.
The Gymnastics industry in 2025 is significant and evolves by integrating technology and a strong focus on holistic well -being. In 2023, the world industry reported about $ 81.5 billion in revenue.
In addition, today you can start with technological resources such as coachrx and Learnrx, add an Instagram account and you’re ready to start, right?
Not so fast …
Education is important – don’t neglect it.
There is something very special for education, certifications, diplomas and diplomas … At the end of the day, they may not mean many for many people, but you still have to have them. Let me explain.
We can think of education as a toolbox. As you start receiving certain certifications (such as the CCP – I really suggest you always start there to anyone who asks me), these certifications provide you with tools you continue to add to your toolbox.
Now, it is true that the only way to gain real experience is to get your hands dirty and start working with people. That’s what they do – they start working with people without any education. In this scenario, what happens is that you are starting to work, but with very few tools, and above it, they are low quality tools that you do not fully understand how to use.
You can see how this will cause problems. You probably won’t hurt anyone (at least hope no), but at the end of the day, the real value you can provide to others is very little, almost non -existent. And this is when the frustration puts in – because you want to help in a more important way, but you just don’t have the tools to do it.
It is true that certifications are not all, but it is your ticket to provide value, impact creation and literally changing life. You have to get the right tools – it’s so simple.
Now, as you start gaining these tools, you might notice another problem … Many times, you don’t really know how to use them well. You do not use them optimally and you are not effective with them.
This is where the integral education companion comes into the game – entirely important, though much less spoken: guidance.
A mentor can help you save time, energy and effort. They can prevent you from getting away from the course … It’s not that you will not make mistakes, but a mentor can make sure you make the right mistakes so I can say it. A mentor can also help you build awareness, create a long -term direction and understand how to browse the coaching life cycle and every stage within it.
They can help you determine what is important to you now as a beginner or a “technician” and what will be important in the near future, while helping you build a long -term vision. A mentor acts as a lighthouse, guiding you safely on the coast and keeping you on the right course, preventing you from driving away too.
Keep in mind that even after gaining your initial training, building your toolbox and having a mentor to guide you, you still have to walk your own path – make your hands dirty, get into the trenches with people and make mistakes. After all, this will buy you.
Experience is what allows you to work out effectively, act as a driver and mirror for your customers, asking the right questions – because this is a coach. It enables you to create route maps and action plans that help people grow and transform under your guidance.
In my opinion, the beauty of the experience is that it cannot be rapidly-it cannot be purchased. Regardless of the training you get, how many certifications you earn or how many top mentors you hire, at the end of the day, you have to do the project. As I said before – you have to get into the trenches and let the time do his thing.
But make sure you go with the right tool. Create your toolbox. Train yourself.
