Ingredients for Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip
Use these simple and fresh ingredients packed with nutritional value to make this delicious cottage cheese dip recipe. Be sure to check the recipe card for the exact amounts of each ingredient you will need.

- Cottage Cheese: Cottage cheese is used in place of sour cream to add creaminess to this dip. Use either whole or low-fat cottage cheese for this dip. Whole cottage cheese will make a thicker, creamier dip – but use the one that best aligns with your health goals. Look for one cultured cottage cheese with added gut-friendly probiotics – Good Culture cottage cheese is one of the most popular brands of cottage cheese.
- Ranch Seasoning Blend: use store-bought salad dressing seasoning mix to add ranch flavor to this dip. Hidden Valley Ranch makes the most popular, but there are other brands like Trader Joe’s or Simply Organic as well. You can also make your own (it’s very simple!).
If you don’t have any ranch dressing seasoning, it’s very simple to make a batch of it at home with a few simple ingredients.
You’ll have extra dip seasoning left over so you can save it in a jar for a future batch of dip or use it on roasted vegetables or to make ranch dressing.
Homemade Ranch Seasoning:
- 1 ½ tablespoons buttermilk powder, 1 ½ teaspoons dried parsley, 1 ½ teaspoons dried chives, 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried dill, ½ teaspoon sea salt
- If you can’t find dry chives, substitute 1 teaspoon onion powder
Variations
I love the ranch seasoning in this whipped cream dip. However, you don’t have to make the recipe as written – you can add almost any spice or even some sauces you have in the pantry to them.
Here are some of my favorites:
- Spices: Curry powder, Tajin, cayenne, Za’atar, taco seasoning, smoked paprika or chili powder
- Sauces: BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce or chipotles in adobo sauce
