Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Diffusing Blend is a Young Living blend that smells just like the holidays should smell! With spicy cinnamon notes, bright orange notes and black spruce aroma, this blend is my absolute favorite this season! It turns out to be one of the easiest essential oil recipes out there, and in this post, I’m going to share the recipe so you too can make your home smell festive this holiday season! Not to mention this DIY Spirit Christmas Mix recipe is budget friendly to boot!
When I discovered essential oils 15 years ago, I began my journey using Young Living. I signed up and was sold on YL. As time went on my budget couldn’t keep up with my new obsession so I started researching other essential oil companies and started looking to find a company that had the same quality that YL has but at a lower price. I can easily say that I have found many comparable essential oil companies that I can vouch for. However, Young Living has some of the best essential oil blends. While many alternative companies have recreated these blends, I like to find recipes and recreate them myself. With the holidays just around the corner, I’m recreating the fantastic YL blend, Christmas Spirit! It’s the perfect blend to diffuse throughout the holiday season!

What is Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Blend?
Christmas spirit spirit consists of cinnamon bark, sweet orange and black spruce essential oil. This blend is the perfect holiday diffusion blend and beautifully incorporates the scents of Christmas and brings instant holiday cheer! Many Christmas Spirit lovers have said that it is the perfect essential oil diffuser recipe to diffuse on Christmas morning!
Christmas Spirit is primarily intended for diffusion and is not recommended for topical use as it contains cinnamon bark which is a hot oil. Precautions should be taken if you have small children. It is meant to be diffused during the Christmas season and is a healthy alternative to burning candles.
Burning candles is a common way to make your home smell like Christmas, but candles often contain fragrances and waxes that can be harmful to your health. Diffusing essential oils is a much safer and better way to make your home smell festive for the holidays.
This essential oil blend doesn’t just smell good. Diffusing essential oils has real benefits for your mind, body and soul. Because of the essential oils used in this blend, it can promote a sense of calm and relaxation as well as support your respiratory health during the winter months! Diffusing is my favorite way to enjoy essential oils, and I can attest that they have helped calm my nerves and ease the winter blues.
According to Young Living:
Christmas spirit is a beautiful blend of three oils reminiscent of winter holidays: Orange essential oil has a bright aroma that is believed to bring joy, peace and happiness to those who wear it. Cinnamon bark essential oil is the oil of wealth from the East. Black Spruce essential oil has an aromatic effect that brings a sense of balance and grounding.
- It has a refreshing, invigorating and happy aroma
- It evokes memories of joy, happiness, comfort and security
- It has a scent reminiscent of winter holidays
- Perfect for use during festive gatherings
- Great for gifting to friends

Recipe for Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Blend:
End: After combining the 3 oils, letting them meld together for 2-3 days will “age” the spicy scent making it smell even better. Also keep your mixture out of direct sunlight and be extra careful as cinnamon can cause skin irritation. It is important to keep this mixture out of the reach of children for this reason.
How to spread the Christmas spirit:
Fill the diffuser with water and add 10-20 drops to your diffuser!

Why make Christmas spirit instead of buying the mix?
It might be easier to buy the mix since it’s available on Amazon. However, when you choose to make your own, you may spend a little more money upfront, but you’ll be able to make 3 more bottles of the mix, making it much more economical in the long run.
Each essential oil comes in a 10ml bottle which means it contains 200 drops of oil each. So with one cinnamon essential oil you can make 3 bottles of 5ml. With 1 orange oil you can make 8 blends and with one black spruce oil you can make 13 bottles of this blend.
- Orange Oil – $9
- Cinnamon Bark – $16
- Black Erythritol – $12
- 5 ml bottle (pack of 10) – $9
Upfront spend $46 and get at least 3 Christmas Spirit blends worth $15.33 each. To purchase a 5ml bottle of Young Living’s Christmas Spirit it costs $17.37. Not to mention, there are many other uses for orange oil and black spruce! Orange oil is an awesome oil that I use almost daily to remove sticky residue or stains on hard white surfaces. Black Spruce can be used in a variety of diffusing blends, including the Volcano Capri Candle Essential Oil Blend (Anthropologie) that I will be posting soon.
The only reason to buy the mix pre-made is if you’re in a pinch and don’t want to take the time to make your own. Making the mix yourself is much better value and a lovely personal touch when given as Christmas gifts.

Where to get essential oils:
When using essential oils, high quality, organic oils are essential. I usually get pure essential oils from Herbal treatment. I love that they offer organic oils that are affordable. In addition, they offer fast and free shipping. You can use my password JENNIRAIN CLOUD to get 10% off your order! You may be interested in my full herbal review. They also have several certified in-house aromatherapists to analyze their essential oils to ensure consistent quality. I also like to use Mountain Rose Herbal Essential Oils. They are also high quality and very affordable, but shipping is a bit slower. believe Garden of Edens they’re also a great (and affordable) essential oil company, but I haven’t used enough of their oils or done the research to really know.
I think a DIY Christmas Spirit bottle would make a great hostess gift if you know your host spills. If not, making a room spray would be awesome too. The trio of essential oils that come together in Christmas Spirit is such a wonderful blend. Trust me when I say, you’ll love diffusing this blend on vacation. I’m on my 3rd bottle and it’s not even Thanksgiving! It has become my absolute favorite holiday scent!
