Still looking for reasons to talk about mental health? Don’t we all go through this personally or are we already experiencing it around us? After COVID was a successful curtain raiser that gave us a sneak peek into the mental health demands of individuals and how they can negatively impact the global economy in the long run.

In this blog, I will share some reasons that will make you think about the importance of good mental health.

13 reasons we need to talk about mental health

In our world, we need reasons, logic and validations to back up what we say, to believe something either we have to go through it or something huge should happen, the empathy and compassion quotient has fallen asleep.

We talk a lot about how our blood sugar is up, how we diet to lose weight, and how we take medication to keep our blood pressure under control, but we never talk about exhaustion, fatigue, or exhaustion. Even if we do, we are blatantly judged, no matter what others say they don’t, they do and that makes it even harder to open up again.

We hardly understand this fact mental health is just as important as physical health, so here I try to share some reasons why we need to talk about mental health and what can happen if we continue to ignore it.

1.) It’s NORMAL to go through it
2.) It affects you physically
3.) It affects your productivity
4.) It affects your relationships
5.) It affects your self-esteem
6.) It makes you feel left out
7.) It makes you doubt yourself
8.) It affects your self-image
9.) Makes you think you’re alone
10.) It makes you feel embarrassed
11.) It makes you feel guilty
12.) It isolates you
13.) He won’t let you ask for help
reasons we need to talk about mental health

1.) It’s NORMAL to go through it

One of the most important reasons to talk about mental health is to understand that we are going through stress, depression, anxiety or any form of insanity it is normal. Although people occasionally label them abnormal or weird or out of place in society, it is precisely this stigma and shame associated with mental illness that is the root cause of its elevation.

2.) It affects you physically

Yes, yes, many mental illnesses have physical symptoms and if not taken care of early, it starts to affect your health. Have you ever had a racing heart, heavy breathing, or an upset stomach just when someone was arguing with you or when you sensed something was about to happen?

3.) It affects your productivity

Constant stress and not being able to recognize what’s going on inside can affect your outside world. Your entire day, your work, and your productivity are based on your mood and mindset. You could have a super productive day right when you’re energized and motivated, or you can sulk and lie about everything when you’re at your lowest energy levels, one of the other critical reasons we need to talk about mental health.

4.) It affects your relationships

Like work, it also affects your relationships. Relationship with your spouse, children, parents and friends. Your emotional lack for them can cause them anxiety, and if you are dealing with anxiety, it can become difficult for your partner to deal with you. If you are stressed, you may take out frustration on your children.

5.) It affects your self-esteem

It doesn’t make you feel good about yourself. It makes you feel worthless, we may encounter these feelings once in a while under different circumstances, but if this situation becomes a habit, then we should know that it is very unhealthy for our health.

6.) It makes you feel left out

Because you don’t feel comfortable with anyone when you’re going through mental stress, you feel like you’re the only one going through it and everyone else is happy and living a good life, you feel left out in conversations, you feel left out even in public gatherings and in between to friends.

7.) It makes you doubt yourself

Just as it makes you question your self-worth, it puts you in the zone of self-doubt, where you doubt everything you say and do. It makes you fall into endless mental arguments that result in nothing, go nowhere and only affect your inner peace.

8.) It affects your self-image

One of the other critical reasons we need to talk about is mental health. Once you start doubting yourself, you question your capabilities, and with every decision you make, you also doubt your mental self-image, that is, your self-image. You feel less confident, it lowers your self-esteem and you don’t feel like you used to when you were at your happiest.

9.) Makes you think you’re alone

Just because you feel sad, alone, and less than whole, you feel like you’re alone and you’re the only one going through this. For some people it also becomes like the world is against them and they are all alone fighting to survive each day.

10.) It makes you feel embarrassed

The stigma and shame associated with it makes you feel ashamed of what you’re going through, you feel let down. You curse yourself for being in that situation and you feel helpless, but it’s not you, it’s the perception of mental health care in our world, less awareness and lack of awareness never included people with mental illness and just made it difficult for them.

11.) It makes you feel guilty

The cycle of self-doubt and overthinking causes you to put yourself off and then leaves you feeling guilty. You want to do so many things, but just because your mental health is not in good shape, you fail to do it, and then this constant guilt of not being able to do things makes you anxious.

12.) It isolates you

When you feel alone, when you feel unworthy, the world feels like a place you don’t belong. You don’t feel welcome anywhere, people don’t relate to you, and you hardly find anyone who understands your state of mind and acts on it, so you prefer to be alone, and isolation helps you escape all criticism and labels.

13.) He won’t let you ask for help

Stigmas, stereotypes, shame and lack of awareness do not let you seek professional help, and even when your family members see you, they do not feel the need to seek counseling which ultimately worsens your condition.

In conclusion, I would say that just because of the lack of awareness people are suffering and suffering a lot. With all the misconceptions and self-diagnosis, we already glorify mental illnesses like OCD and anxiety in an inappropriate way, so please be aware of your surroundings, feelings and emotions and take the necessary steps.

So, with this list of reasons to talk about mental health, I hope you understand the importance of talking about it. You always need someone to talk to, you always need to get out, you always need closure, maybe not in the way you’re looking for, but one way or another to find that closure and seek that help. Take full control of your life. Get up!
