Over the last 30+ years, we have certified over 130,000 professionals. Meet one of our distinguished graduates, Kayla Chandler, a certified holistic nutritionist.

Tell us about your story and how you dealt with health, nutrition and well -being.

Growing up in South Mississippi, I grew up with fried chicken, cookies and sauce and pie with pecans! My mom was like the local Paula Dean, so we ate almost a stick butter with every meal (I’m not joking). In my teenage years, I began to focus on becoming healthier. However, my version to become healthy then was to count calories and work too much. I was still consuming diet soft drinks, artificial ingredients, gluten -filled foods and any other “diet” food you can name. I call her an unhealthy “healthy” diet because the thought of focusing on diet has never passed my mind. I only cared about my weight.

Quickly in front of my twenty -21s – 21 for precision. I was working on a very pressing job and anxiety, sleep deprivation and malnutrition eventually caught me. At 22 I ended up in the hospital with unbearable stomach aches. I went to four different doctors, collected the hospital’s accounts, and yet, none of them knew what I did. After 3-4 days of excruciating pain in the stomach, my gynecologist finally held me one night and gave me an anti-inflammatory steroid through IV until inflammation was reduced. Even then, he did not know the main reason yet.

This traumatic experience began my mission to understand why my health was suddenly falling so fast. As a fortune, I was watching the broadcast of Dr. Oz a random day, which was weird because I was rarely watching her, and a doctor was discussing celiac disease. Now, keep in mind, 10+ years ago, the whole issue of food allergy was not yet dominant. So most doctors never dealt with this subject or even knew it.

I made a trip back to the doctor and told her to take me on a gluten allergy. He did the tests and I was definitely allergic to gluten. Immediately I cut gluten and felt better immediately. However, I was still facing other negative symptoms, which led to more research.

In short, over many years, I was on a mission to learn as much about health as possible to heal myself. If the doctors didn’t know how to heal me, I was determined to take the situation in my hands. As I started this journey, I finally discovered that not only did I have celiac disease, I also had hormonal imbalances, adrenal fatigue, heavy metal toxicity and nutritional deficiencies. I was a mess.

One by one, I began to address these issues through natural and holistic methods. And, now in my 33, I feel better than ever!

Why did you choose to follow a certification in health and nutrition?

After years of doing my own research to heal myself naturally and struggling to find others to give me answers, I gained a deep desire to share my knowledge with others. I knew that if I could change my health through holistic methods (and I was completely confused), then there must be others out there just like me who needed answers!

I have never been so passionate about another issue than that of diet. It was always on my mind and I was constantly sharing tips and tips on family and friends, so I finally made the decision to make a career.

Why did you choose the holistic diet certification?

I chose to get the Holistic Nutrition certification because at the root of my personal health problems it was diet and I wanted to expand my knowledge in this area. I firmly believe that most people nowadays follow a diet without nutrients, which leads to nutritional deficiencies and negative health symptoms. And, my desire was and is to help train people in this area of nutrition and guide them to change their dietary lifestyle in a healthy and energetic lifestyle.

I knew that acquiring a certification in this area would give me the extra knowledge needed to transfer my health education to the next level so that I could help more people.

Why did you choose AFPA?

I chose the AFPA because of its high reputation and quality education. I had researched other organizations, but none of them were compared to the AFPA, in my opinion. As for the completion of the program, I completely enjoyed the whole process! The educational material was exactly what I needed to broaden my knowledge.

What was your favorite place in the program?

My favorite place was the fact that I could attend the lesson at my own pace. In addition to working my main work at that time, I could still complete the program in my spare time without feeling excessive.

What is your current career?

Before receiving my certification from AFPA, I had another job in a completely different industry. But in my spare time, I started my blog for health, sharing healthy recipes and lifestyle tips.

After receiving my certification in the holistic diet in 2016, not only I continue to manage my health blog, but I also have a YouTube channel and work with customers individual, creating dietary designs and plans. My certification in holistic diet has completely changed my life. Now I can turn my passion for the help of others into a full -time career and wake up every day feeling extremely blessed and full, knowing that I do what I love!

I discovered that acquiring this certification helps to create greater credibility with customers and certainly helped me attract more businesses. Thanks to the knowledge I have gained from my certification, my customers always achieve great results and feel satisfied with their experience with working with me.

How was your experience with the AFPA customer service team?

My experience was amazing. My emails were always answered in time. And, while I was attending the lesson, I always felt confident that I could address my educational counselor if I had ever had questions or needed help.

How did this certification affect your overall life?

The acquisition of this certification has changed my life completely. Not only did it give me the extra training, tools and confidence I needed, but it helped me gain credibility with new customers.

Because of this certification, I was able to create a whole business with the aim of helping people achieve optimal well -being!

Do you have any advice on others who may think of being certified?

If you are on the fence to get a certification from the AFPA, all I will say is, do it! It’s not just an excellent learning experience, but if you are trying to make a career in health, then it’s a great way to gain credibility.
