Minted is probably best known for its wedding invitations, birth announcements and holiday cards, but it also offers a range of art, home decor and stationery created by a global community of independent artists.
They have a membership program that offers discounts, free shipping, and a gift box from Minted. I crunch the numbers to see if it’s worth it and who would get the most bang for their buck.
How does the Minted membership program work?
It costs $38 a year to become a member. After that, you get 30% off holiday cards, 20% off fine art, stationery and gifts, free regular shipping and limited edition gift wrapping. Anything you order will automatically be discounted in your cart as long as you are a member.
What do you get with your subscription?
Some nice perks come with this membership and here’s how they break down.
✅ 30% discount on festive cards
The biggest deal I see Minted around holiday cards is around Black Friday for 20%, so this is a good deal right away. By using for example 50 cards, you’d save about $30-$40 versus the $20-$30 you’d save with their juiciest discount code. (This can sometimes just cover the cost of the membership.) Of course, this depends on the cards you get and how many, but you get the idea. This deep discount can be used once during the year.
Welcome offers: New members get 30% off birth announcements using code BABYMM30 or 30% off graduation cards using code GRADMM30
✅ 20% discount on Fine Arts
Fine Art is almost always excluded from Minted codes, so this is a nice perk if you’re looking for personalized nursery prints or something unique for your living room. Murals also fall into this category and you can save some serious coin if you want to do something spectacular in your space. You can use your discount as many times as you like.
✅ 20% discount on Stationery
Birth announcements, thank you notes, Valentine’s Day cards, greeting cards, baby shower invitations, etc. all fall under stationery, so there are plenty of ways to save throughout the year and there’s no limit to how many times you can use the discount. Minted’s Photo Art and wildly popular Heart Snapshot Mix also fall into this category.
✅ 20% discount on gifts
Personalized stationery, journals, custom calendars, gift tags, and clothing name tags are all 20% off with your membership. So you can get a discount for any Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, school visits, teacher gifts etc., all year round. There is no limit to how many times you can use this discount.
✅ Limited edition gift box
Get a gift box of select goodies each year ($160 value), including greeting cards, gift wrap essentials and more. Honestly, I would spend $38 just to get the gift.
✅ Free standard shipping
Standard 5-day shipping costs $3.95 to $9.95, but that fee is waived with your subscription. Applies to all US orders and can be applied to any order throughout the year.
Details to note:
- No discounts or rebates can be applied to the $38 subscription purchase.
- The 30% off + free shipping discount on holiday cards can be used once within your membership year.
- You may not use discount products sold and shipped by third-party sellers. So you can’t use it in something like a custom portrait created by an independent artist.
- You cannot combine or stack your membership discount with any other offer.
- Free Standard Shipping applies to the US only
- Your discount doesn’t apply to taxes (makes sense).
Can you cancel your subscription?
Yes. Your Minted membership plan will automatically renew on the one-year anniversary of your sign-up date. You can cancel your subscription by turning off automatic renewal of your subscription in your subscription account. You can do this right after you sign up if you’re worried about forgetting. They also send an email before the auto-renew so you’re not surprised by the renewal.
My little experiment
I decided to pretend I was expecting a baby this year (I also pretend I live in California in a beach house with a lemon tree).
Over a year, if I bought 50 of these birth announcements, 50 of these Christmas cards, and a Heart Snapshot Mix for my mom on Mother’s Day (because she has the cutest grandpa on the planet, of course), I’d save about 100 $ if I belonged to the Minted membership program.

These savings don’t factor in a welcome offer (I get 30% off my birth announcements) and all the other things I might buy like thank you cards, nursery prints, or some personalized holiday gifts.
Verdict: Is Minted’s Membership Program Worth It?
Even if you only use Minted for Holiday Cards, you will cover or come close to the membership fee. (If you spend more than $200 at Minted, then you should definitely become a member.) Add in the extra discount on other stationery and gifts, plus the gift wrapping, and I’d say it’s worth it, especially if you plan to buy more from one thing during the year.
