Sharing a recipe for homemade protein ice cream that is rich and tasty. The perfect healthy dessert or protein snack!
Hi friends! How’s your day going? I hope you have a wonderful morning. What would you say about a little ice cream for breakfast? Okay, stay with me, it’s not as crazy as it sounds! It’s one of my favorite hygiene dessert recipes and you can enjoy it as a breakfast after training!
I have an extremely easy and tasty recipe to share with you today for delicious homemade protein ice cream!
(I added pieces of peanut butter and chocolate to this lot and it was a dreaaaammmmmmmm)
Homemade protein ice cream
We all know that protein is important. Not only is it the most satisfactory macronutrientProtein is also the building block for our cells. It is important in the world of fitness/health because it can help us build and maintain muscles, which is particularly critical as we grow older. We want to build and protect our muscles to help our bones and protect our metabolism, as the muscle is “hungry” by fat and has a higher energy demand.
I tend to recommend about 1-2 grams of protein per pound of ideal body weight (depending on so many factors as body composition, age, goals, preferred nutrition strategy, etc.), but I like to target 1 palm oil.
This protein ice cream is a creamy and tasty dessert, which packs a terrible portion of protein. It’s a great way to add a variety to your sources of protein while enjoying a sweet treat. I share the recipe with you today so you can recreate it at home!
Is the protein ice cream healthy?
This high protein ice cream recipe is a great healthy pleasure, especially because it includes some healthy fats (from coconut milk) and you can add any garnishes you like, including peanut butter, walnuts or fruits. Keep in mind that this should not be a substitute * real * traditional ice cream if this is what you long for, but this is not the “other” ice cream made with frozen bananas. If you are craving normal ice cream like Ben and Jerry’s and try to do this as a substitute, it won’t fill the gap for you. 😉 Have some of the real deal, enjoy it and move on with your life.
However, if you already have a protein shake and are looking for another protein choice to your day and you would like something that tastes like a sweet treat, give this a swirl! You could eat it completely every day as part of a balanced design that includes lean proteins, smart carbohydrates and healthy fats.
Ingredients
- Protein of choice powder – whey protein powder and pea protein powder will work the best. This step is important and make sure you use a protein powder you love! If you are looking for ideas, try Truvani or now food (use Fitnessista for 20% off). Choose a good -hearted protein powder and tastes – this is critical. You can use vanilla protein powder or chocolate protein powder, depending on the taste of the ice cream you want to make.
- Coconut milk full fat-You can also use almond milk, but coconut milk is going to give it the rich taste and texture. If you are not without dairy products, you could use the whole milk (which I suggest for taste, texture and nutrients over the skimmed milk)
- Vanilla extract
- Sea salt
- Stevia to Tude* (You can also use maple syrup if you don’t like the flavor of Stevia. I avoid other artificial sugars because the sugar alcohols upset my stomach)
- For chocolate protein ice cream: semi-gluttony chocolate chips 4oz
How to make homemade protein ice cream
Step 1
Make sure the bowl of your ice cream maker is frozen! If it is not, get ready the day before the ice cream is made. You can also make the ice cream in a frying pan, but it will have a different texture.
Step 2
In a saucepan to the stove, add the milk, chocolate chips, vanilla and sea salt and bring one simmer. As chocolate chips melt, beat in protein powder. Dip a spoon in the mixture (be sure to let it cool before the test!) And add any sweetener you want to need.
Step 3
Pour the mixture into the ice cream manufacturer (I like my ninja creami) and turn it on. It will take 20-30 minutes until it has a soft consistency. For a more stable ice cream, place the mixture in a pan and freeze for 3-4 hours. (You can also use a blender or food processor in a sting.)
Step 4
Take out the portions you want and enjoy! Add any of the toppings or mix-ins below to customize your flavors!
Ice Cream Ideas:
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of mint sweet and crushed candy for a holiday treatment
- Top with peanut butter or swirling some on the ice cream maker
- Add chocolate chips, melt some chocolate chips to the top or add a cocoa dust dash
- Swirl in some fruit jam
- Top with fresh berries
- Mix some espresso beans in ice cream producer (and use coffee instead of water!)
- Add the almond extract to vanilla protein ice cream for a beautiful almond flavor and top with sliced almonds
- Add non -sugar, no sugar sliced coconut and pecans
