Having a healthy sex life is necessary for anyone. But when you have pain during sex, it can get a tax on mental health and relationships. It is estimated that 31% of men and 43% of women have sexual dysfunction, showing the prevalence of sexual pain. (1)

Despite how common painful sex it can be, most people do not talk about why sex hurts. Or maybe you live every day I wonder what causes pain during sex and struggles to find the proper treatment. This article will provide answers about Why does it hurt when I have sex?

Cause of painful contact

The causes of pain during sex are different for each person. Could be due to a pelvic pain or a vaginal infection. Another possible reason is to get through menopause or experience erectile dysfunction. In some cases, intercourse pain comes from sexual abuse.

Pelvic pain

Sex pain can occur when you have a pelvic pain. (2) Certain pelvic pain conditions include:

  • Vulvodynia: It is stinging or burning pelvic pain around the opening of the vagina. The pain that may be continuous or comes and does not go without a visible cause. A simple touch or pressure from sexual intercourse can cause unbearable vaginal pain.
  • Dimarania: It is a pain during sexual intercourse that may come from psychological or medical reasons. Painful sexual penetration can come from a deep push or even appear on the surface of the genital or pelvic floor.
  • Pelvic radiotherapy: When you have radiation therapy in your pelvis, it can cause to reduce or stenosis of the vaginal or vaginal stenosis. Pelvic radiation can lead to scar tissue in the vagina, making sexual intercourse.
  • Vaginismus: It is the unintentional contraction or spasm of the pelvic floor muscles and vaginal wall. Deep pain can occur from the placement of a tampon, sex or even a gynecological examination.
  • Vaginal atrophy: This condition is extreme dryness in the vagina. There are several reasons for vaginal dryness, ranging from the existence of pelvic radiotherapy to menopause experience.
  • Vaginal rudeness: This unusual condition (1 in 5,000) is a congenital disability that causes the vagina not to be fully formed. (3) Some women have a smaller trick or have no at all. Vaginal rudeness can make sex extremely painful during penetration or is not yet possible.

Vaginal infections

Vaginal infections can cause damage during sex. The most common vaginal infection is a dough infection. Vaginal dough infections usually affect women more between the ages of 20-40 years and come from antibiotics, poor hygiene or radiotherapy tissue damage. (4)

Another common vaginal infection is an urinary tract infection (UTI). When you have a UTI, you may have a sense of burning or sting, have a persistent desire to urinate in cloudy urine. (5)

Sexually transmitted diseases

According to Planned Parenthood, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are common and can occur by oral, vaginal or anal sex. (6) Without treatment, STDs can cause other serious health concerns, such as pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility. The most common sexually transmitted infections are as follows:

  • Chlamydia
  • Genital warts
  • Gonorrhea
  • Herpes
  • Hepatitis b
  • Scabies

Some sexually transmitted diseases may come without symptoms, but some may cause burning or stinging pain during sex.

Median cystitis

Intensive cystitis is a chronic problem that causes continuing bladder pain, bladder pressure and sometimes pelvic pain and inflammation. It is more common for women to have this condition and can cause frequent urination and pain during sexual intercourse. (7)

Ovarian cysts

Ovarian cysts are pus pockets in your ovaries that can cause pressure or bloating in your lower abdomen. (8) Every month, a woman’s body produces an egg released from the ovaries. As the egg is produced, it exerts pressure on the cysts, leading to possible pain and discomfort.

Treatments for painful contact

Finding health solutions for the reason that hurts when having sex depends on whether the pain comes from a medical condition that requires medication or one that can benefit from natural therapy.

Vaginal dilators

Vaginal dilators or vaginal trainers are tube -shaped devices that help to stretch and lengthen the vagina and pelvic muscles of course. It is a kind of natural treatment that occurs in the privacy of your home with your speed.

Many conditions benefit from the use of vaginal dilators to facilitate pain and suffering so you can have a healthy sex life. When working with vaginal dilators, you will discover that the vagina or vulva disappears. If you have scar tissue from radiotherapy, Vuva â„¢ dilators break the painful tissue to transform sexual intercourse.

Drugs

If the problem is about fertilizing or vaginal atrophy from radiotherapy or menopause, treatments are available. During menopause, women’s hormones range wild and estrogen levels may fall. Postmenopausal women can develop dyspainin because of these low estrogen levels.

Estrogen is a basic female sexual hormone responsible for balancing menstruation and fertility. Low levels cause vaginal dryness, insomnia and mood changes (including symptoms). While controversial, a typical treatment is the treatment of estrogen hormone replacement (ERT). Add the missing estrogen to relieve the symptoms. (9)

Counseling or Sexual Therapy

In combination with vaginal dilators or medicines, you can also benefit from counseling. If your answer to sex is harmful and causes an emotional and physical response that makes the experience painful, sexual therapy can help you.

The experience of pain during contact forces men and women to feel alone and to be ashamed. There is no reason to suffer. Vaginal dilators and treatment have helped thousands of people have the sex life they deserve.
