HFoundationless skin can make humid days much more bearable. While you’re on your journey to achieving your foundation-free glow, we’re here to offer some tips and tricks to help you better manage your skin’s condition when dealing with a humid climate.

What does humidity do to your skin?

Humidity can affect our skin in several ways.

High humidity levels can cause pores to open, allowing more dirt, impurities and sebum to enter the skin. This increases the potential appearance of clogged pores, eczema and uneven skin texture.

High humidity often means more sweating and the sweat stays on your skin longer as evaporation slows down. In more severe scenarios, this could cause skin irritation and even lead to heat rash.

5 tips to keep your skin glowing in humid weather

Tip 1: Cleanse thoroughly, twice a day

When the humidity is high, you will usually notice more sweating as the sweat does not evaporate as easily. Sweating helps remove dirt and bacteria from the skin. However, if left on longer than desired, it can cause irritation and breakouts. Those with sensitive skin will experience this condition more often, including redness of the skin as they sweat more than usual.

To avoid this, make sure your face is well cleansed both day and night. A gentle cleanser like Cleaner 1 helps to thoroughly clean your skin without leaving a feeling of tightness. The citrus scent also leaves you feeling refreshed after your cleanse!

One thing to note – make sure you don’t over clean! If you have dry skin, consider cleansing only with water in the morning to avoid over-cleansing. This helps you retain the natural oils your face secretes to keep it healthy and clean.

Not sure if you’re past the cleanse? Check out this article for 4 signs to make sure your skin is being cleansed properly!

Tip 2: Exfoliate

Tip 3: Choose a lightweight moisturizer

Your skin usually feels sticky and heavy when the weather is humid. Moisturizing it’s an important step, but going out during the day with a heavy-textured moisturizer can be a little taxing on the skin as moisture hits.

When you choose your daily routine sunscreen, choose options that have an SPF level of 50 or higher and a PA protection of 3 or higher to ensure adequate protection from the skin’s UVA and UVB rays. Having a waterproof sunscreen is also especially useful in high humidity environments where we sweat more than usual.

Tip 5: Mask to cool down

With high humidity, a quick way to cool your skin is by masking! Place your face masks in the fridge to enjoy a chilled mask at the end of the day. For a no-fuss option, opt for sheet masks. Just open, apply and enjoy the cooling sensation on your skin.
