If you’ve ever picked up a bottle of wine, browsed a furniture store, or shopped for an adult product before, you may have noticed a California Prop 65 warning label slapped on the back of your purchase. Ever wondered what that little label is? really Does it mean in your favorite products? Here is the weak one.

Proposition 65, passed in 1986, warns Californians about chemicals in products or environments that could cause cancer, birth defects or harm to the reproductive system. He is able to help you make informed decisions that protect your health. And yes – Prop 65 applies to recreational products too.

Below, you’ll find a breakdown of what Prop 65 is, particularly when it comes to your sex toy of choice, so you can understand how it affects your decisions and what this warning label means for your health.

What is California Prop 65?

Proposition 65 (or “Prop 65”) is a nickname for the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. It requires California businesses to warn residents of significant exposure to chemicals that can cause harm — specifically the aforementioned hazards such as cancer, reproductive problems or birth defects. Prop 65 protects consumers from harmful chemicals found in products, homes, workplaces or other environments by helping Californians understand their exposure to these substances and take steps to avoid potential health risks.

Prop 65 also prevents businesses from dumping unsafe chemicals into drinking water and maintains a regularly updated list of more than 900 known harmful chemicals. TLDR: Prop 65 is about creating safer environments and healthier options for everyone in California.

California Prop 65 and Sex Toys

Before you panic and throw away your entire toy bag, here’s the deal: Just because a product has a Prop 65 warning doesn’t automatically mean it’s unsafe. It’s more like a heads-up so you can make informed choices. Feeling a little nervous? Don’t worry, baby! Many brands (including many of our favorites) go for materials that are safe for the body, such as medical-grade silicone. This means they do not contain phthalates and are generally considered safer.

At FemmeFunn, we are committed to your pleasure and peace of mind. So while Prop 65 may seem a little scary, it’s really just a matter of transparency. You deserve to know what’s in your games so you can choose what’s best for you your body.

Understanding the California Prop 65 List

The California Prop 65 list of chemicals is California’s watch list of chemicals that power cause birth defects, reproductive harm or cancer. To get on this list, a chemical undergoes a thorough review by a panel of experts who determine its potential hazard. And because it’s updated regularly (at least once a year), you can trust that it’s always up to date.

How to minimize exposure

You already do, baby! Just by reading this, you are taking charge of your health and making informed choices. But let’s take it a step further. Whether you’re buying new toys, make-up or even cleaning supplies, take a look at the ingredients and materials. Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to the things we use in (or in!) our most intimate areas.

Not sure if something is Prop 65 friendly? Look for the tag! Brands are required to tell you if their products contain any of these listed chemicals. And if you’re really curious, check out a brand’s website — it often has information about their commitment to security and transparency.

Speaking of brands we love… (hint, hint 😉) At FemmeFunn, we’re obsessed with body-safe materials. This means you can shop our collection with confidence, knowing that your pleasure is our priority. When you choose brands that care about your health and well-being, you’re not only playing it safe, you’re setting yourself up for the most enjoyable, worry-free experience possible.

The bottom line

The sight of a Prop 65 label might give you a mini-heart attack at first, but in reality, it’s there to empower you. It’s all about making conscious choices. And guess what? Tons of brands (like yours truly) are already ahead of the game, using premium, non-toxic ingredients that prioritize your health and pleasure.

At FemmeFunn, we’re all about those good vibes — in every sense of the word. We’re committed to building toys from high-quality, body-safe materials so you can indulge in the game without worry, because you deserve nothing less.

So the next time you see that Prop 65 label, take a deep breath. It’s not about instilling fear. is to give you the knowledge you need to make the best decisions for your body. Now go ahead and shop with confidence knowing you have this!
