  • What should you buy on Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is almost here! And this is not your ordinary sale. The online retailer already “stocks” shoppers for exclusive deals and deep discounts on millions of products. Now that you’re a parent, your Amazon shopping list is about to grow.

According to US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 exceeds $233,600. While housing, health care, and education make up most of the money you’ll spend, clothing and miscellaneous expenses (such as personal care products and electronic devices) are also factors. This is where Amazon Prime Day comes into play!

When is Prime Day 2024?

Even though it’s Prime Day, Amazon’s deals last more than 24 hours. Prime Day 2024 starts July 16 at 12:01 am PDT and runs through July 17. This means you have 48 hours to save.

What is Prime Day?

In 2015, Amazon announced its first Prime Day deals. The one-day sale marked the company’s 20th anniversary and brought in more customers than Black Friday. By 2023, Prime Day’s The popularity had grown to make it the biggest sales day for the brand. Last year, customers saved a total of $2.5 billion on everything from toys to electronics.

This year’s sale includes millions of offers across 35 product categories. Customers can earn discounts every five minutes as new offers drop on the website and app. Along with dollar deals and discount rates on items like electronics, baby items, clothing, health/beauty products and more.

And, don’t worry about missing out on parent-friendly deals. You can set up alerts to notify you when hot summer deals are about to start.

Why buy baby items during Prime Day?

Amazon always seems to have great sales on baby items. Chances are you’ve already shopped the e-tailer and know the site is more affordable than many baby stores.

From costumes and tiny socks to cribs, car seats and high chairs, you can find everything your new little one needs on Amazon. But you might want to wait until Prime Day to fill out your shopping list or make a big-ticket purchase.

If the Prime Day 2024 sale is anything like the brand’s two-day event last October, parents can expect to find plenty of shopping opportunities.

And bonus, you might not have to wait until July 16 to start saving. Early Prime Day deals include lower prices on select Hatch products and Amazon devices. The 5th generation Echo Dot Kids Owl with Echo Glow is already 58 percent off. Instead of paying the full list price of $89.98, Amazon shoppers can pick up this adorable owl device for $37.99. You’ll also get a year of Amazon Kids+ for free with this purchase.

Other categories where we’ve found great deals on past Prime Days include:

Clothing items.

Save money to get discounts on maternity clothes, baby essentials and adorable clothes.

Diaper bags.

Before you invest in an expensive package, check out Amazon’s deals. You could get a bag for a bargain.

Strollers.

This higher-priced item is another top pick during Prime Day. Look for discounts on lightweight, all-terrain, joggers and double strollers, along with travel systems.

Car seats.

A safety seat for your vehicle is essential. Amazon has historically offered unbeatable discounts on infant car seats, convertibles and all-in-one seats.

Baby sleep.

This category includes cribs, vanities, portable pack-and-play beds, bedding, mattresses and more.

Health, hygiene and safety.

Get diapers, wipes, shampoo, lotion and everything else your child needs.

Keep checking Amazon’s website and app for new deals revealed in these and other categories as Prime Day approaches. So if you’ve been waiting to invest in the latest, greatest bathtub, want to stock up on easy-to-spread blankets, or need a new breast pump, mark July 16 and 17 in your calendar.
