A bright and flavorful dressing, this vegan green goddess dressing is made with creamy avocado, fresh herbs, garlic, lemon and apple cider vinegar. Use as a crudité dip, salad dressing, sandwich spread or protein dip.Vegan Green Goddess Dressing in a serving bowl on a wooden cutting board along with fresh cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumber and baby carrots.

Because I love this recipe

This Vegan Green Goddess Dressing is creamy, bright, herbal and so easy to make.

Chop the herbs and onion, mince the lemon, add all the ingredients to a food processor and you have a flavorful, vibrant dressing in just minutes.

The traditional green goddess dressing calls for mayonnaise and/or sour cream, and I’ve even seen buttermilk thrown in. I wanted to make a dressing that was creamy and plant-based – and avocado helps make that happen!

For those with allergies or dietary restrictions/preferences, this dressing is vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free and nut-free.

This version is made with fresh herbs like basil, parsley, and dill, but you can totally use whatever herbs you have on hand or prefer. Coriander, mint, tarragon or chives would all be delicious.

Vegan Green Goddess Dressing also goes with almost anything. It’s great on almost any salad, spread on a sandwich or wrap, topped with anything savory (like my Vegan Loaded Sweet Potato), even dipped in fresh veggies or crackers.

I also love the name of this outfit. I think everyone deserves to feel like a goddess every now and then. I know I feel most like a goddess when I listen to my body’s needs, eat lots of nutritious foods, stay hydrated, get enough zzzzz’s, find ways to stay grounded, and move my body in ways that feel good.

Hopefully after you try this outfit, you’ll dress your goddess too.

  1. Mix the ingredients. Add avocado, garlic, basil, parsley, dill, onions, salt, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and water to food processor and blend until combined.
  2. Wipe down the sides of the processor and add olive oil. Using a spatula, scrape down the sides of the processor/blender. With blender/processor running, slowly drizzle in olive oil until incorporated.
  3. Enjoy! Use it as a dip, salad dressing, sandwich spread or sauce for protein, grain bowls and stuffed sweet potatoes.

Expert advice

  1. I use a food processor to blend all the ingredients together, but if you don’t have one you can also use a high speed blender.
  2. Green Goddess Dressing is very customizable and a great way to use a plethora of herbs – feel free to use other herbs like coriander, tarragon and mint.
  3. Once you add the olive oil with the processor/blender running, feel free to do so play with consistency. You can slowly add a little water at a time if you want your dressing to be more runny.

Recipe FAQs

What is Green Goddess dressing made of?

Green Goddess dressing is a creamy dressing that usually contains mayonnaise, sour cream, a mixture of fresh green herbs, anchovies, garlic and lemon juice.
