If you are planning a trip to Seville, I rounded up my top tips depending on whether you are in the city for a short trip, a longer stay and some of the things I wish I knew.

Hi friends! I hope you have a great week so far! This is the last place in my trips (we made a cruise to Spain, Italy and France + year in Barcelona and four weeks in Seville) and things will return to our regularly scheduled planning here. You know, until I draw my next trip lol.

Today I wanted to share some of the things I have learned about Seville: The things you need to know, the favorite restaurants/points and tips that I had to learn the hard way. I have broken it into two sections. The first is if you are planning a shorter trip (about a week) and for longer trips (3-4+ weeks).

Tips for traveling to Seville, Spain

Short trip:

Language:

If you are traveling to Spain, I think it’s absolutely worth learning basic phrases you will use. This book It is extremely useful and I also recommend working with a teacher if possible. Josep is my current teacher And it’s amazing! While I have found that many people in Spain know English, many do not. It is worth knowing at least how to get where you want to go to a taxi, how to order food and drinks, ask for the account, ask where the bathrooms are, to have polite conversation, etc.

It is also worth noting that in Seville, they will use concentrated versions of phrases, which are casual and fun:

– por favor (please) = porfa (I didn’t use it personally because it feels a bit cutesy but definitely I heard it)

– Hasta Luego (we say later) = a luego

– Buenos Días (Good Morning) = Buenos (but you can say buenas any time of the day instead of hola for hi)

– Gracías (thanks) = graracía

Also wait to hear and use a lot of “vale”. Can agree, okay, do you understand? (Vale?), Are you ready? (Vale?), I’m ready (sí, vale), let’s go (vale!), Etc.

Wear comfortable shoes!

There is a lot of walking, which is one of my favorite things. I like to explore new places on foot 🙂 The roads are cobbled and sometimes heterogeneous, so stay away from the heels. Cute sneakers and sandals are always a good choice. You can exchange Dressier sandals or an espadrille for dinner. I live in Vejas when we are in Europe!

Air conditioning

AC is rarer, even in restaurants and shops. Get a cute fan and you will fit right! Since we are from AZ and I like hot yoga, heat didn’t bother me at all, but the kids are melting. We ended up entering Alehop to get the Mister face and a throat fan.

Reservations:

Close any reservations and tickets for dining room in advance.

Some of my favorite spots:

Alcazar

Museo del Baile Flamenco

Las setas

Plaza españa

Purchase Triana

The cathedral

Flamenco in Las Setas, Casa de la Memoria or La Cabonería (a bar with improvised flamenco representations)

Restaurants

Food tips:

– If you want water, be sure to determine if you want agua con (foam) or natural (still).

– Cafes will often ask if they are Para aquí (for food there) or para llevar (to go). Although not a big deal for smaller points, some restaurants do not offer stripping meals or will charge for withdrawal supplies – something you need to consider. The boxes after a meal are not so common, so you need to ask and wait to pay a little (0.50-1 euros) for supplies.

– The overthrow is still not expected here, but it is appreciated. My friend in Barcelona said to overturn one euro or two if you feel the service was excellent/above.

– Order the Tinto de Verano instead of Sangria. It is less sweet and extremely good and refreshing. We also recommend that you get a bottle of Albariño wine.

– Paella is a more frequent meal, not food. 😉

Our top restaurants in Seville:

– Mokambo for brunch

– Alfalfa 8 for cocktails and dinner

-Petra for cocktails and dinner

– El Rinconcillo for lunch or dinner

– Maria Traga for a romantic dinner

– Cañabota (an incredible Michelin star experience we enjoyed)

-Gluten -free Chok

– almazen – cute little morning coffee

Longer journey:

Since we were in Seville for four weeks, we had to experience what it could be to live there for a while, with a lot of interruption, grocery shopping, Airbnb cooking, washing machine and we didn’t feel like we were in a hurry.

Grocery shopping tips:

We ended up grocery shopping for most days because it’s summer and kids snacks a ton, but so we can see what was fresh and good. When we are out of town (especially for longer travel) we try to get out to eat the maximum 1x a day (maybe a snack or ice cream) because it can get very expensive and do not feel our best with 100% restaurant meals.

Also, vegetables are somewhat rare here in restaurants. It is not the rule to go to restaurants and see many sides of vegetables or salads on the menu. I tried to cheat them and cook them on Airbnb when I could, just to get to some extra nutrients and fibers.

Produce shopping:

You have to wear gloves to touch any product and place the product in a production bag. Once it is cut, take it on a nearby food scale to weigh it. You find the products you weigh on the screen, press the button, a linear code of stickers appears to attach the production bag.

Bring your own bags.

They have bags available, but you have to pay for them and it is easier to place some Tote bags in your luggage to use as a beach, swimming pool and grocery bags.

Some of our staples:

Fruit

Vegetables and hummus or guacamole for immersion

Gluten -free Picos and Nutella

Cooling prepared Spanish tortilla (sooo good)

Yoghurt

Eggs

Chips and bar

Peanut butter on toast with berries or banana

I also brought Daily nutritional support and Truvani From home so I can mix the two for a protein pudding completed with berries, bar or peanut butter

Washing machine:

We usually plan to make a washing machine, if possible, when we travel because then we don’t have to pack so much! I bring the washing machines from our home. (I use Rosey brand from Thrive Market.)

It is worth mentioning here that the dryer are not so common in Spain. Dry your clothes out. To be honest, I really like this. The sun dries the clothes so fast and they feel so fresh and clean! The only bummer is that the towels get a little crunchy 😉 our Airbnb had a washing machine and a drying shelf that I would give on the terrace to dry our clothes.

The terrace ended up being locked for a while, so I dried them in the living room on the drying shelf:

Airbnb:

If you are staying for a longer period of time, I definitely recommend finding an AC spot (worth summer) and a patio or somewhere to relax out. This was my only regret with our Airbnb. It was very cute, but very small because I would see that we would be out for most of the time. We ended up spending a lot of time there and I would like to have a small patio or somewhere to relax outside while the girls sleep or relax at AC.

Waste Recycling +:

It’s different from the states! Most points have a neighborhood rubbish location where you will throw away your trash and sort recycling. I am always impressed by recycling here with a bin for glass, pasteur, paper/cartons, food scraps and various.

Baths:

It is worth noting here that you cannot flush any toilet paper under most of the Sevilla toilets. There is usually a large rubbish next to the toilets for toilet paper or whatever you should fly. The pipes are very old and they can easily clog. Sometimes public toilets do not have toilet paper, so it is convenient to have a packet of tissue and handy In your wallet.

Random:

– Eat the jamòn. I never eat pork in states, but you can bet your booty I have jamón almost every day we are in Spain.

– Get apartments in Flabelus !! (Heads on top run small. I’m usually 38 and size up to 39)

– See Mira Mira for Super Inepxnsive but very cute jewelry

– Get some of the chocolate bons and turrón in chocolate stores.

– Buy some of The best olive oil (That you can really order on Amazon but still!)

-Order Carrillada (pork cheek with red wine reduction sauce … in Dieeee for)

– Walk to Triana to browse all handmade ceramics!

Okay, I think it’s most of my tips … for now !!

If you go to Seville, spend the best time. It is really a magical place with beautiful culture, super friendly people, amazing food and amazing sights. You will relax it.

Okay, friends: What is on your travel list right now? Any Recs Seville for Add?
