Santana Garrett is a shining light in the WOW—Women of Wrestling—rings and has seen the larger-than-life body slamming business come a long way since debuting for her father’s wrestling promotion as a rookie. Now, not only has Garrett guest coached at the WWE Performance Center, but she also continues to impart her wisdom to the women of WOW. And, this powerful woman reassures M&F that despite the “old boys club” attitude displayed by some of the intimidated pro wrestlers of the past, there were always those household names willing to hone her skills.

When Garrett debuted nearly twenty years ago for the High Voltage Wrestling promotion, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. says M&F While her father is no longer with us, his bold daughter continues the family legacy not only as a wrestler, but also as a valued teacher.
Santana Garrett was the only female in the wrestling school
When fiery female WWE superstars like Trish Stratus, Lita and Chyna started making an impact in the new millennium, there was a gradual increase in the number of women who would dare to join a predominantly male club. “I was the only girl at my wrestling school,” Garrett recalls. “I was going to school in St. Louis, Missouri, and I decided to start training out there. At first, they didn’t really accept me. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a woman or if my dad was a wrestler and they wanted to make me win it…but they sure did.”
To prove her passion, Garrett threw herself into training, spinning old tractor tires and whipping herself around the mat like a rag doll. However, as she progressed, the young upstart found mentors such as Sean “X-Pac” Waltman and Scott “Razor Ramon” Hall, two of the biggest names of the Monday Night Wars era. Training at the Team Vision Dojo in Florida, Garrett learned from the best. “I got to have matches with them over the years, whether they managed me or in an intergender tag match, and they made me the first lady of WolfPac,” says Garrett. “Well, you take pieces from every person you meet.”
Garrett’s ability to absorb the wisdom she was given was put to good use as she became the NWA World Women’s Champion in 2015. Her run with that title included a successful defense in Japan, marking the first time in 36 years that the belt was defended there. TNA (Total Nonstop Action) wrestling fans will remember Garrett’s run under the name Brittany, while WWE fans will remember her time struggling in NXT. He also entered the 2021 Royal Rumble at number twelve. Since 2013, however, WOW – Women of Wrestling – has been an ongoing part of Garett’s bone-crushing career, where she held the WOW Tag Team Championship and topped the mountain with the WOW World Championship in 2016.
Santana Garrett is still making history in pro wrestling
In October 2025, Garrett was part of the first professional wrestling card ever to take place on Fremont Street in Las Vegas. Now, she’s not just a carpet technician, she’s also a valuable mentor, imparting the same wisdom imparted to her by industry icons. And, having coached at the WWE Performance Center, the trailblazer is excited about the future of women’s wrestling and sees only positives in the future superstar coming out of various backgrounds, from small unknown wrestling outfits to big-name college athletes from other fields. “That’s one of the things I love most about WOW,” he explains. “We’ve got independent wrestlers grinding from the ground up. We’ve got models, we’ve got actors, we’ve got stuntmen. I think it’s beautiful that they come from all walks of life, all shapes and sizes are represented and I welcome that. You know, if someone wants to wrestle, it doesn’t matter that they didn’t make it their dream. I think it’s something they can develop and the fans will decide if they have it or not, but I think everybody deserves a opportunity.
Just don’t try these moves at home!
