Robyn arrested in April 2024 after 5 cycles of effort. Robyn was diagnosed with pregnancy diabetes for about 26 weeks and started insulin shooting during about 28 weeks.

Due to the GD diagnosis, the group of Mids recommended an induction, but Robyn wanted to go as much as possible for a natural birth. Together with the midwife team, they agreed to a 39+1 induction. In week 38 Robyn was 1 cm dilated, but he had not yet eliminated. Robyn was walking about 10,000 steps from the second trimester, so he was sure to walk the baby before induction. That week, she walked more than ever, tried to walk on walking and even on Friday afternoon tried to make midwives to make her Doula guidance with some hot baths and miles. Her mucosa came out that week, so she thought she was near. And at this point the colostrum was also expressing, so he continued to try it.

Robyn thought he started to feel something – which on the back were only the principles of very early job. But the moment he thought it was a real job. It had a good period in the morning, but on Saturday they fell entirely. Taking the hard induction pill to fly, the family waited until Sunday to head. On Sunday night, Robyn and Eric headed to induction. It was still only 1cm dilated and only slightly exhausted. The midwife offered to send Robyn Home with a Foley lamp, but Robyn and Eric were ready to stay there for the night.

They started the misoprostol who was vaginally introduced every three hours around 10pm and continued until 8am, when the next midwife came to talk about the plan. Recommendations at night we are tough but not overwhelming. Robyn slept with a peanut ball between her legs for about half a night.

After initial counseling the next morning, Robyn and midwife decided to introduce the Foley lamp. Then things really increased. Within the first hour, Robyn threw twice from the contraction pain and took iv liquids with nausea drugs. Nurse 3rd nurse just encouraged “the next time you use the bathroom, pull the strings and see what’s going on”. So, in just over 3 hours, the lamp came out. During these three hours, the contractions were intense and on top of each other. After the lamp came out, the midwife asked if we really wanted to start the party – because if so, we would break Robyn’s bags. Then things started. For the next two hours (?) The contractions were incredibly intense. Robyn tried some different positions – and the four watching the head of the bed were the most effective for a while, and then moved to the shower and finally the birth ball (the order of these things may be a little away). Each position required a lot of swing and moaning. Doula arrived for a while during this time. Towards the end of this part of the work, only the birth ball and the opposite pressure help.

Robyn and Doula knew that the plan was to get into the bathtub, so the room was ready. Robyn could say that things were really close because of the contractions that did not stop and the tension was almost uncontrollable. At one point he said, “If we don’t go now, I’m not sure we’ll do it.” As she stumbled from the work room, she had to stop and hit, launching a bloody show at the same time.

Once in the bathtub, Robyn focused on being on the frog and as things fell, they repeated some basic mantras with Doula: my body, my pain. I want that. We are a team. We do it together. There were sounds coming out of Robyn who did not know he could do – he was a trained singer and at some point during this was something between a guttural roar and song. Focused on maintaining low shades. Every time the stadium lifted it focused inward.

Robyn began to feel pressable, or as if he had to stumble. Obviously, it’s time. The nurse had come out to check her. 100% are launched, but only 9 cm dilated. Told Robyn to stop pushing and breathing quickly “hee-hee-hoo” to help this last centimeter. On the delivery table, we had another check and confirmed that it was okay to start pushing. And, it wasn’t funny, 55 seconds later, August Elton was born. The nurse was so unprepared, it had only one glove and no one else in the team was yet in the room. We had arrived through pain without medicine for pain and the baby came out happy and healthy. What more could we ask for?
