Because I like this recipe!
I shout, we scream, we all cry out for probiotic ice cream!
Who does not love a decadent, tasty dessert that also happens to have a diet benefit? This is right, this ice cream is made with probiotic kefir. A fermented milk drink, Kefir has a similar taste of yogurt, but is thinner in consistency.
Milk creams, kefir makes a delicious addition to smoothies, salad sauces, pancakes, and guessed it, ice cream.
As a dietitian that focuses on bowel health, I am all to support the inclusion of foods with fermentation in the diet. For one, they try delicious (imho) and two, they contain probiotics, also known as “good bowel bacteria” that have been shown to help support a healthy gut.
The diet benefits, this ice cream is what it does this summer / early autumn, while peaches are seasonal and erupted with taste.
Churn or no-churn, you decide! I like to hit my ice cream to get this relevance with soft service and helps make it more creamy with the final freeze. But you could easily pour the mixture into a pan of bread and freeze it immediately. It can just have a slightly icier texture.
If you have young children at home, this can be a truly fun recipe to make as a family! The four -year -old loved me by helping to do this and thought it was so cool to see the liquid starting to thicken in the ice cream in the ice cream maker.
Grab a spoon and dig!

Notes on ingredients
Peach: I could only find a low -fat peach perfumer (so I added cream to the recipe), but a whole peach of milk would work even better! You could also experiment with a simple whole kefir milk, but you may need to add extra peaches or honey for sweetness.
Heavy cream: Adds a necessary fat to make creamy ice cream that will hit well
Peaches: I like to use ripe yellow peaches for their sweetness and color
Honey: Adds a little extra sweetness
Vanilla: Adds a floral sweetness to ice cream
Salt: Helps enhance all flavors
Play ice cream with probiotic!
I am all about eating regular ice cream and in no way say you have to replace the ice cream with this version of Kefir. But if you incorporate more wax and/or fermented foods into your diet is a goal, this ice cream can be a fun way to do this!
While bowel health and probiotic research are still quite new, There are some promising studies that have a positive beneficial effect on overall digestive health. The results depend on the executives you use, the dosage and the type of support you are looking for.
If you are interested in trying probiotics, fermented foods are a great place to start, but it is difficult to know which strains and how much you really get. That is why a probiotic supplement can be a more targeted approach. Discussion with a dietician or doctor about your health goals can help you choose a probiotic strain (or executives).
I like it Terry’s Florasure® Probiotic Because it provides a unique combination of executives (Lactobacillus Plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and bifidobacterium bifidum) This can help relieve casual gas, bloating, cramp, diarrhea and constipation.

Ice cream maker
Expert tips
- Use ripe peaches when season or substitutes with frozen peaches to do all the time.
- Make sure the freezing of the ice cream maker is frozen for 15-24 hours before use.
- Only with low fat will lead to a frozen texture, almost like sorbet or sherbet. Adding whip cream helps to achieve a more creamy, frozen relevance. You could also use a whole blue milk.

Preparation and storage
Store ice cream in an airtight safety container during the freezer or store in a saucepan with a plastic wrap or candle paper that is firmly pressed down on the ice cream to prevent the burning of the freezer. While ice cream is cooler when consumed in a few weeks, this ice cream can be stored for up to three months.
