If you have read me for a while, you may have noticed that I have touched the issues of healthy home and personal care over the years. While the food we eat is undoubtedly important in support of our health, it is a healthy home environment more Critical because our homes – from the air we breathe in the products we use to clean – can really be more toxic to us than our diet. That is why a non -toxic home cleaning approach is vital.
Most conventional cleaning tips require the cleaning and disinfection of every angle and corner of your home until it shines. However, the problem with this is that many of the products designed to achieve this are loaded with toxins that are worse for us than dirt.
If you start a home cleaning project in the coming weeks, try applying these tips to ensure that your cleaning adventures are non -toxic and safe. We really want clean – not a chemical coating.
Ingredients in cleaning products to avoid
Give your cleaners once and responsibly reject any cleaning products containing harmful ingredients. Some dangerous ingredients to avoid include:
- Triclosan – linked to skin sensitivity, liver damage and hormone disorder
- Parabens – Disrupt our endocrine system (our hormones) and may increase the risk of breast cancer

- Chlorine – aggravates asthma, destroys bowel bacteria and connects to colon/bladder cancer

You may have a collection of home cleaning products intended to clean a single part of your home – the shower, toilet, sink, kitchen counters, air, windows, blinds, mirrors, floors, list continues. The truth is that you don’t need a billion products to clean your home well-some multi-purpose good products can do the job easily.
The final guide to non -toxic cleaning house
1. Clean the cleaning products of your home
Before you even start cleaning, it is important to ensure that you are set to use products that do not increase your toxic load (this is the body load we carry chemicals in our environment). As I just mentioned, conventional cleaning products are full of dangerous chemicals that are harmful to our health.
2. Excuse your materials and what do you really use
I think any home cleaning process should consider the possessions we have and whether or not they serve us. It makes no sense in cleaning things that are just going to sit there and collect more dust that you will need to clean over and over again.
Go through your home and evaluate everything from your knick-knacks in kitchen gadgets to clothes in your closet. You can find my guide to deny your home here. What do you use on a regular basis? If you haven’t touched something last year, do you really need it?
Keep things you don’t use or wear and leave it for a month. If you don’t need anything in the box (or boxes) during this time (or forget what’s there!), Give it away to friends and family or donation to charity.
3. Clean your house by room
Hopefully you don’t just clean your home once a year! Regular maintenance will keep your home quite clean and you can book a deep cleaning of the whole house for things you do not do on a regular basis. Keep in mind that you don’t have to do everything at the same time or all in a day or weekend. Create a systematic plan. Maybe you make a room every weekend and apply the tasks for several weeks.
Another thing to remember is that you don’t have to do that alone! If you live with other people, make a team effort. This will lighten the load, make it more fun and accelerate the process. Pour in a wonderful music and promise cookies or homemade chocolate bar or a pizza party when all the work is completed.

4. Also clean these thoughts
Cleaning at home is not just about your external environment – it also gives us the opportunity to look inward and work towards an internal environment that makes us feel happy and safe. Having a beautiful clean house is great, but if you are miserable, you are not going to enjoy it or reap the benefits.
Do account for your work, your personal life, your relationships, your friendships – are they serving you now? What makes you happy and what reduces you?
