I only recently learned about the numerous benefits of red light therapy and was pleasantly surprised to find that it is all backed by strong scientific research.

From antiaging and pain relief to muscle recovery and beyond, the benefits seem endless. But to really get the full benefit, you need to understand a little about how red light therapy works and the different wavelengths involved.

Currently, there are several companies offering various red light therapy devices, and finding the right device for you requires some research and thought. Not everything is so simple!

For the past three weeks, I’ve tried it Mini Red Light Therapy Device by Bon Charge, which was kindly sent to me for an honest review. In this post, I want to share a bit about my experience, how easy it is to use, what you can use it for, and its potential benefits. So, let’s get started!

Understanding Red Light Therapy

Red light therapyalso known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodification, is a treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and promote various healing and rejuvenation processes.

This treatment is completely safe and natural, and it’s even FDA approved, which means it meets strict safety and efficacy standards.

So how does it work? Red light therapy involves exposing your skin to low levels of red or near-infrared light. Unlike UV light, which can damage the skin, red light is safe and does not cause any harm. Light is absorbed by cells and stimulates energy production within cells, enhances cell repair and regeneration, and reduces inflammation.

Benefits of Red Light Therapy

Now, let’s talk about why red light therapy creates such a buzz. There are hundreds of studies out there and research is ongoing, but here are some of the main benefits that have been associated with this treatment:

Skin health

Red light therapy is fantastic for your skin. It can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, treat acne and even out skin tone. The 660 nm wavelength, in particular, is absorbed by the skin, promoting collagen production and skin rejuvenation.

Pain relief and inflammation reduction

If you struggle with chronic pain or inflammation, red light therapy can be a game changer. It helps reduce inflammation and provide pain relief, enhancing blood flow and promoting the body’s natural healing processes. This is why it is used for conditions such as arthritis and tendinitis.

Hair growth

Yes, you heard right! Red light therapy can stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow to the hair follicles. This makes it a popular treatment for people experiencing thinning or hair loss.

Muscle recovery

Athletes and fitness enthusiasts, this is for you. Red light therapy helps in muscle recovery by reducing inflammation and enhancing muscle recovery. The 850 nm wavelength penetrates deep into the muscles, making it ideal for post-workout recovery.

Pharmaceutical

Whether it’s a cut, wound, or even post-surgery healing, red light therapy can speed up the healing process. It works by stimulating cell repair and regeneration, which helps your body heal faster.

Joint health

If you have common problems such as arthritis, red light therapy can help. It reduces joint inflammation and promotes better joint health, making it easier to move without pain.

And these are just the main benefits! Red light therapy has also been shown to be beneficial for a variety of other conditions, including asthma and certain types of dermatitis.

My experience with the Bon Charge Mini Red Light Therapy Device

The Mini Red Light Therapy Device from Bon Charge it’s an impressive piece of technology. It uses two specific wavelengths: 660nm (red light) and 850nm (near infrared light).

The 660nm wavelength is perfect for treating surface-level conditions such as wrinkles, fine lines, scars, rosacea and acne. It can also be used to grow hair, build muscle, relieve pain, and heal wounds and injuries.

Meanwhile, the 850nm wavelength penetrates deeper into tissues, making it ideal for muscle recovery, reducing inflammation, and even boosting metabolism and fat burning.

Initial setup and first impressions

When I first received the device, I was excited to get started. Initial setup was simple – just charge it fully before use. However, this is where I hit my first roadblock.

The charging process was not clearly explained in the manual. I had to contact customer support to clarify that the device is fully charged when all the green lights are on and not blinking. This information was not in the manual, which I found a bit inconvenient. Hopefully, though, they’ll add it soon. At least now you know how it works so you don’t have the same obstacles.

Ease of use and handling

Once charged, using the device was a breeze. It is compact and easy to handle, which is a huge plus. There is also a base available at extra cost which I found very useful especially when using it on different parts of my body. Holding the device for extended periods of time can be uncomfortable, so the stand is worth considering.

Eye protection during treatment

One important thing to look out for is eye protection. You should never look directly into the light. To protect your eyes, you can either close them or wear blackout glasses. Safety first!

Practical use

The suggested usage is quite simple. For optimal results, you should use the device for at least 10 minutes daily. It is best to start with the device about 20cm away from your skin and gradually reduce the distance to 7cm as your skin gets used to it.

Personal Results

So far, I’ve mostly been using it on my face to treat fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes. After three weeks, I haven’t seen any significant changes yet, but I know that red light therapy takes time. There are many studies proving its effectiveness, so I am committed to continuing.

I’ve also tried it on my knee where I have an old injury that flares up occasionally. I used the device once when I had some pain, probably from over exercising, and it seemed to help. The next day, my knee felt much better – although I’m not sure if it was the device or just the rest.

Pros and cons of the Bon Charge Mini device

Advantages:

  • The Mini Red Light Therapy Device is compact and easy to carry, making it ideal for use at home or on the go. You can even take it with you on vacation!
  • With both 660nm and 850nm wavelengthsthis device can address a variety of concernsfrom skin rejuvenation to muscle recovery and pain relief.
  • The device is simple to use, with simple controls. To charge it, just plug it into your laptop. It is user friendly, even for beginners.

Disadvantages:

  • The The charging process was a bit confusing at first. The manual did not clearly explain when the device is fully charged and I had to contact customer support for clarification. Hopefully, however, they will amend the manual soon. Please note that the first charge will take some time.
  • The The manual is only available online via QR code, which can be inconvenient, especially for the non-tech-savvy. I would prefer a physical manual with basic instructions.

Tips for choosing the right red light therapy device

Choosing the right red light therapy device can be overwhelming with all the options out there, but here are some key factors to consider that can help you narrow down your options:

Budget

First and foremost, think about how much you are willing to spend. Red light therapy devices range from budget-friendly to quite expensive. Determine your budget early to avoid overspending and find the best device within your price range.

Special Needs and Targeted Conditions

What do you want to use the device for? Different wavelengths target different issues. For example, 660 nm is great for skin health, while 850 nm is better for deep tissue healing, such as muscle recovery and knee pain. Make sure the device you are considering has the correct wavelengths for your specific needs.

Portability and Lifestyle Fit

Consider where and how often you will use the device. If you travel a lot or want to use it in different locations, a portable device is a must. The Bon Charge Mini Device, for example, is compact and easy to carry, making it ideal for use on the go.

Need for additional accessories

Consider whether you will need additional accessories, such as a stand for hands-free use. While these can add to the overall cost, they can greatly improve your experience and make the device easier to use. Weigh the benefits of these accessories against their costs.

Device size and type

Finally, consider the size and type of device that will best suit your needs. There are devices designed just for the face, such as red light therapy masks, which are great if skin rejuvenation is your primary goal. For larger processing areas, there are larger panels and even infrared blankets. Choose a device that suits your intended use.

conclusion

Red light therapy offers a safe, natural and science-backed method for improving various aspects of health, from skin rejuvenation and pain relief to muscle recovery. Its non-invasive nature and versatility make it a valuable addition to any wellness routine.

In total, My experience with the Bon Charge Mini Red Light Therapy Device has been positive. It is easy to use, portable and versatile, addressing a wide range of concerns with its dual wavelengths.

If you are interested in buying it, you can get it 15% discount. with my special discount code BHN15 (click here to activate the code). However, be sure to check if there is a current discount for potentially bigger discounts.
