There is a saying that wisdom is earned and by the time we reach 60, we have gained a lot of it. We lived, learned, raised families, built careers and went through menopause. However, one of the most common things I hear from women over 60 is, “I don’t know what to wear anymore.”

Not because we don’t care, but because we want to feel confident, comfortable and relevant without trying to look younger or follow outdated rules.

So today, I’m sharing six things I choose to wear over 60, and some of them might surprise you. Yes, clothes matter, but this list goes beyond outfits.

It’s about what we wear on our bodies every day for comfort, support, protection and confidence. Things that help us feel good in our own skin.

No rules. No “age appropriate” nonsense. Just real options that work beautifully for this stage of life.

Let’s dive in!

1. Wear clothes that fit your body Right now

This is huge and honestly, it’s an act of self-respect.

Our bodies change over time. The weight fluctuates. Hormones shift. Muscle mass changes. This is normal especially over 60.

What is it not it is helpful to squeeze clothes that fit before 10 or 15 kg. Tight clothes don’t make us look smaller. in fact they do the opposite. They are uncomfortable and annoying on top of that.

I believe in dressing for the body you have todaynot the body you had or hoped to have someday. Shop clothes that fit you now.

Choose pants that feel good (and yes, I will When return to low levels). If you want something liquid to go over your belly, do it. If layering helps you manage hot flashes or temperature swings, that’s smart, not sloppy.

If you’re working on losing weight, invest in some good basics that fit your current body. Feeling confident today supports healthier choices tomorrow.

And if you have clothes you love that don’t fit right now? One of the best tips I’ve ever heard is to move them to another closet or put them away for now so you don’t have to look at them every morning. This small change alone can make a big difference.

2. Wear a supportive bra that is comfortable

Menopause changes everything and yes, things change. Typically, gravity pulls things down… ugh. That’s just the reality. At 60 I want too need lift and structure but i do not they want to suffer through an underwire. Fortunately, you don’t have to.

A good, supportive bra directly improves how your clothes fit and how you feel standing in them. Your posture improves, blouses dress better, and you look tighter without even trying.

Most women over 60 wear the wrong bra size. Breast tissue changes with age, weight fluctuations affect fit, and gravity takes its toll. All of this means that the bra you bought five years ago may not be doing you any favors today.

I found some great bras that offer support, comfort and lift without the misery at affordable prices. I always thought I had to “invest” in a good bra…not anymore! And every woman should have one good nude bra. It disappears under clothes and works with almost everything in your closet.

I’m so passionate that I wrote an entire guide about it The most comfortable bras for middle-aged women which outlines all the best options for you!

A supportive, comfortable bra isn’t optional over 60 — it’s fundamental.

3. Wear comfortable shoes (you can still be stylish)

I am officially done clenching my teeth through uncomfortable shoes.

At this stage in life, I will always choose to feel good—but that doesn’t mean I’m giving up on style. Comfortable shoes have come a long way and there are so many options now that support your feet and they look great.

These are some of my favorite comfortable shoes at my age:

  • Zero Pain Heels. i wore this shoe for 12 hours straight at my son’s wedding with zero pain! Now I have 3 colors!
  • My favorite walking shoes. love my walking shoes with a wide toe box and tons of cushion (same feel as premium brands, at 1/3 the price). Check out mine guide to choosing the right walking shoes to know exactly what to look for!
  • Casual sports shoes. These are the casual sneakers with good support I wear all the time.
  • Comfortable sandals. Birkenstocks sandals it’s a staple in my wardrobe. (yes, they are modern and literally designed for comfort)
  • Dressy heels. This is what I wore elegant heels for 4-5 hours for dinner. Maybe not all night but pain free for that amount of time!

Your feet carry you through life. Treat them well.

Comfortable shoes help you stay active—and movement is medicine.

4. Wear your hair in an informed, intentional way

Your hairstyle makes a huge impact—probably more than any outfit.

Whether you’ve gone gray or are still dying, many of us struggle with thinning hair, dryness and constant root maintenance.

Trust me, I’ve tried everything: serums, supplements, red light therapy— say it. I haven’t seen a dramatic resurgence, though have I’ve found things that help me feel better about my hair.

What helped the most?

  • Alternative shampoo. I stopped using shampoo completely. My hair is extremely dry, so I “wash” it this conditioner and the texture difference is incredible.
  • Hair Extension with Clip-In. experimenting with clip in hair extensionsand it is fun. Side pieces, ponytails — they add subtle volume and instantly make my hair look fuller. I always recommend real human hair so you can have your hair stylist color and cut it to blend naturally. Or get color samples before buying a full set.
  • Hair Toppers and Halos. These can also be absolute game changers. They really change how you look — and how you feel. This company will do virtual advisors and custom color.

When your hair is beautiful, your confidence follows.

5. Wear body moisturizer every day

In my 30s I applied body lotion when I had time. At 60, I wear it every day.

As we age, our skin produces less collagen and fewer natural oils. That’s why dryness, broken skin and irritation appear faster.

apply a good quality body moisturizer right after showering, and reapplying to my hands and feet every night. The brand I’ve linked is specially formulated for aging skin and I can tell the difference!

Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and shea butter. Yes, it may seem like extra effort, but it makes a huge difference in how your skin looks and feels.

This is one of the simplest and most effective daily habits.

6. Wear sunscreen every day

If I could go back in time, sunscreen would be a non-negotiable.

So much of the sun damage we’re trying to reverse now started decades ago. But here’s the good news: it’s never too late to protect your skin. In fact, our skin is thinner and more fragile over 60, which means it needs even more protection.

I wear sunscreen every day on my face, neck, chest, arms and body. Age spots on the back of your hands? This is sun damage. Protect them.

Here are some of my favorite sunscreen finds:

Protecting your skin today helps preserve it for years to come.

These are the six things I choose to “wear” over 60… not because I do mustbut because they help me feel strong, comfortable and confident in my body.
