Conditions are one of the best tools you can use to stay safe during sex. They have been shown to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIS) and prevent unwanted pregnancies.

But condoms are just tools. And no tool works in every case.

While you should always use a condom during sex if you are worried about STDs, there are some infections that may be able to slip. Knowing what these infections are can help you protect yourself during future meetings.

Continue to read to find out more.

Are you worried about the STDs? Order Better2Know’s full STI screen or get immediate Sti test results in a clinic.

What are condoms?

The main job of a latex condom is to avoid the transmission of body fluids such as sperm, vaginal discharge and blood. In turn, this can help avoid pregnancy and STDs.

The use of condoms has been proven properly and has been proven to reduce the transmission of infections such as HIV, chlamydia and gonorrhea between 60%-85%.

When should they be used?

Vaginal and anal sex

Most condoms are used during vaginal sex between men and women. The condom is applied to the penis to protect the penis and vagina from the absorption of infected body fluids.

Conditions can also be used during anal sex to avoid spreading infections. The use of condoms during anal sex is really important. Since the anus is more prone to tear than the vagina.

If you receive anal sex from your sexual partner and take a tear, infected body fluids (especially those containing any blood donations infections such as HIV and hepatitis b) will be more likely to cause infection.

Oral sex

Some people also use condoms during oral sex. While the risk of transmission of STD during oral sex is quite low, it still poses a risk.

Oral attitude like Chlamydia; Gonorrhea; Herpes; Syphilis; Hpv They can all be transmitted during oral sex. Conditions, whether you give oral sex or receive oral sex, can have oral sex.

Sharing of Sexual Toys

When you share a sex game, Infected body fluids can remain on the surface of the game. If the game is not thoroughly washed between uses, pathogens can stay and spread to the non -infected person using the game.

Other methods of contraception

Conditions are not the only option for contraception barrier methods. You can also use internal condoms and dental dams if they feel more comfortable for you.

So if you have oral, anal or vaginal sex and worry about sexually transmitted diseases, it is always a good idea to use a condom.

Can you get a sexually transmitted infection when you wear a condom?

While condoms are never 100% warranty against infected, many STDs are more likely than others to be transmitted.

Here are some of them.

Infection of mammium

Molluscum Contagiosum is a fairly common skin infection that can cause round, stable, painless bumps that can appear anywhere on the skin.

These bumps, ranging in size from a pinhead to a pencil eraser, are usually colored with skin, pink or the same color as your skin.

Molluscum Contagiosum spreads through skin contact with skin and contact with infected objects. Although the most common in children, the virus can also affect adults and is often transmitted through sexual intercourse.

Anyone who gets it should not worry. The virus is harmless and every skin spot that results from it usually clarifies between 6 months and two years.

Genital herpes

Herpes Simple (HSV) can cause wounds around the mouth, genitals or anus. HSV-1 or oral herpes causes cold wounds or fever blisters usually around the mouth and lips. HSV-2, or herpes of the genitals, causes wounds usually around the genitals or anus.

Conditions have been shown to be very effective in preventing the spread of herpes infections. However, condoms do not always cover the area that throws the virus during an epidemic.

During an active outbreak (when you are more infectious), it is recommended to avoid sexual activity in order to reduce the risk of herpes transmission to your partner.

If you have yourself an existing infection by herpes, talk to your doctor about how you can practice safe sex. Try to avoid sexual activity if you have an epidemic.

Human papillary (HPV)

Genital warts They are caused by HPV – a family of viruses from which there are more than 140 different types. While genital warts are caused by types of low risk of the virus, high -risk types are associated with different different cancers.

HPV can be transferred through contact with skin with skin with areas of genitals not covered by a condom. Conditions have been shown to be effective in reducing the transmission of this virus. However, transmission is more likely to occur if the contact is repeated and prolonged, as in a long -term relationship.

While some HPV infections can lead to genital warts and cancer, these infections are in a small minority. Most HPV infections do not cause symptoms and are cleared by your immune system within a few months.

Even the genital warts will leave on their own, after all. Most cases of genital warts are resolved within a few years.

Final thoughts

While condoms are a great way to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, they cannot be successful every time. So if you are sexually active and you think you may have been exposed to Sti, you should try.
