As a member of the Eminence Organics team (I always look forward to experiencing our latest release!), I was thrilled to be gifted the new Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder. Having never tried a powder cleanser before, I was curious to see how it would compare to the gel cleansers I’ve always relied on. I was hoping it could deliver the same deep clean – and it didn’t disappoint. My skincare routine has always included a good non-irritating exfoliator, but I was looking for something that could cleanse and exfoliate at the same time without being too harsh. The promise of a gentle yet effective exfoliating cleanser packed with natural enzymes sounded exactly what I needed.

Why exfoliation matters

Before I dive into my experience with this skincare product, let’s talk about why exfoliation is key to any skincare routine. Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, revealing a fresh layer of skin underneath. This process not only brightens your skin but also allows your other skin care products to be absorbed more effectively. However, finding an exfoliator that is strong but gentle enough for regular use can be difficult, especially if you have sensitive skin like I do.

That’s where Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder comes in. This cleansing powder is part of the Superfood Enzyme Collection, which also includes the Mango Enzyme Exfoliating Masque. Designed to gently exfoliate and deeply cleanse, it uses the natural enzymatic power of actinin from kiwi and papain from papaya. These enzymes work to smooth and brighten your skin without irritation – a must for anyone with sensitive skin.

My experience with the Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder

The smooth, matte packaging felt luxurious to hold. I liked the convenience of the flow control spout that dispenses the exact right amount of product. The packaging does an amazing job of protecting the product from water and moisture. The scent is a soft, subtle cherry scent — much softer than the overly sweet cherry scents I’ve encountered with other brands.

I decided to incorporate this powder into my routine, using it three times a week to start. Following the directions, I dispensed 1-2 shakes of the powder onto my dry hands, mixed it with water, and rubbed them together to create a creamy lather. The transformation from powder to foam was incredibly satisfying and the light, fruity Barbados cherry scent was a delightful bonus.

As I massaged the foam into my skin, I could feel the gentle exfoliation happening. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to lather the product into a soft, luxurious lather with no powder residue. The foam felt gentle on my sensitive skin and I enjoyed massaging it into my face while appreciating the soft cherry scent. The actinidin and papain enzymes worked their magic without any scrubbing, leaving my skin soft and refreshed. What impressed me the most was how my skin didn’t feel tight or stripped afterwards, which is a common problem with many exfoliators on my skin type.

After rinsing and drying my skin, I noticed an immediate glow. My skin felt clean, soft and balanced, with no signs of irritation — just as promised.

The results: Before & After

Before

I have extremely sensitive, reactive skin and have been avoiding exfoliation after destroying the skin barrier from overuse of chemical exfoliants in the past. My skin also tends to get very oily and prone to clogged pores.

Over the next few weeks, I continued to use the cleanser regularly and saw noticeable improvements in the texture and brightness of my skin. The appearance of my pores looked minimized and my skin tone looked more even.

After

My skin felt very smooth and clean but not stripped. My forehead looks less congested and I didn’t experience any negative reactions from my super sensitive skin! I am so happy to have found an exfoliating solution gentle enough for my sensitive skin.

What’s in the dust?

Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleaning Powder

Curious as to what makes this cleansing powder so effective, I took a closer look at the key ingredients:

  • Barbados cherry (Acerola): Rich in vitamin C and polyphenols, this superfood helps brighten and smooth skin, leaving it glowing.
  • Actinidin: An enzyme derived from kiwi that gently exfoliates, making it perfect for sensitive skin.
  • Papain: Derived from papaya, this enzyme helps regenerate skin for a smooth, glowing complexion.
  • Kakadu Plum: A powerful source of vitamin C and antioxidants, this ingredient minimizes the appearance of dark spots.
  • Diatomaceous earth: A natural, finely milled ingredient that absorbs excess oil and dirt, helping to improve skin texture.

Each ingredient in this powder is carefully selected to provide a gentle yet effective cleanse, making it ideal for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Final Thoughts

Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder has quickly become a staple in my skincare routine. It’s a versatile product that delivers on its promises, offering deep cleansing and gentle exfoliation that leaves my skin looking and feeling rejuvenated. If you’re looking for a product that can cleanse and exfoliate without compromising your skin’s health, this cleansing powder is definitely worth a try.
